Career

the Vidolio.com epiphany!

Vidolio.com is a dream I have had for the last 5 years or so. I always thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be cool if resumes could have pictures or video.” Throughout my career in the fashion business, image was everything. You had to look the part to get the part. Luckily I was able to connect with a streaming audio career site called mycoolcareer.com, that did an extensive interview on my career and posted a bio of my accomplishments. Whenever I would send my resume, I would link this site for employers to get a “Real” sense of what I am all about. I have never been the suit and tie kind of guy. I have tattoos and messy ass hair. It has been dyed every color under the sun. I went through the phase of piercings as well.

As my career advanced I found myself traveling the world and earning 6 figures. Shopping for a living was my job. The endless pursuit of fashion trends in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, Florence and more. My job took me to China, Taiwan, India and Korea. The perks were great, but I was away from my 3 kids more than I saw them. Soon enough it came time to make a change. I reviewed my options and made a failed attempt to start my own import clothing company. 40,000 garments were made in China and rejected by a buyer at Charlotte Russe. When I returned form a 3 week trip in China, I was broke, unemployed and burnt out on the fashion biz.

After months of contemplating my future, I couldn’t seem to find my way. With a Dui on my record, I could even become a Valet. I pursued sales jobs, but all of my sales experience was primarily in the fashion biz. I needed to get as far away from the fashion biz as possible. So, I took some time to reflect on my life and assess my goals. I started writing my auto biography, “The Memoirs of an American Entrepreneur” Day and night I spent writing and uncovering a past that lead me to this point in my life. Unemployed, broke, divorced, joint custody, and no college degree, my ego had quite a hit. It was during this same time, I was helping my sister along with her battle against Cancer. 3 years of Chemo…is a hard road.

Spending more time with my kids was great. I could walk them to school and take them to soccer games. I decided to make writing my career. I began writing web content articles, seo articles, keyword articles and more. As I researched for my articles, I rediscovered my passion for the internet. I felt a desire to make an impact in this technological space. I learned about hosting, programming, software, servers, social networking, flash video and more. After checking out Stickam.com  and YouTube prosper, I felt a strong sense of urgency within myself to pursue this dream of a video resume website. There was no holding me back. The energy within me was hard set to turn my vision into a reality.

I started a blog, http://freevideoresume.blogspot.com and http://freevideoresume.podbean.com . I found VideoEgg.com is very useful in uploading video to blogs and started writing about my vision. I could invision video email, personal bio pages, a social networking site like myspace mixed with Monster, a hybrid job site of sorts. After all, everyone needs to look for a job at one  point in their life. Especially freelancers, photographers, models, videographers, animators, graphic artists and more. These people have made careers based on their special talents. I decided to make the ideal portal which would allow creative and business minded individuals to get together in n interactive, dynamic site. I could see video letters of recommendation posted on personal bio pages, professional athletes showing video clips of them snowboarding, bmxing, moto xing, surfing , skating and more. A place to upload and update your resume. A place to view really cool jobs. A place that let’s you be you. It’s not going to be stuffy at Vidolio.com…It’s a free creative energy. Express yourself. “Play Your Resume”
