Hello from out of the blue!
We got to see the coming and going of cherry blossoms shrouded in rain, but that’s all right. We did get to go inside a house! With a backyard with a cherry tree in it! Quite a highlight. And recently, we got to host a friend who came to visit, and while she was here we took her to what was possibly the strangest show I’ve ever seen. Taken from my journal:
“We attended a show in Koenji that was like being in someone’s living room, surrounded by books and music, yellow with age and use. Packed, it held 20 people with portable ashtrays, sipping coffee. The first act was gorgeous ambient guitar music that seeped into you and made your eyes water. The second act was two ladies dressed as grandmas on the frontier who called themselves the ‘Appalachian Sisters,’ singing about grocery shopping and the like. The third act was a small girl dressed as a mangy dog with a frighteningly disproportionate head. She played an organ and sung carnival like songs with the voice of a child, her head hidden in a dog’s gaping mouth.”
Sorry that you missed it! Really. Wish you were here and all that. I wish I could send you some of the beautiful guitar music, but I have to figure out how to read his name on the flyer. The song this time is from Fat Freddy’s Drop, another reggae selection (to warn the haters). This album was given to me by my friend Sayoko. Thank you Sayoko. =) It’s a really good Saturday morning song.
