Associate Professor of History Dr. David Kilroy of Nova Southeastern University is managing a project to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising. It is a social media project and goes live on Sunday April 24.
Kilroy writes that “’Tweet the Rising’ is an innovative project that uses social media to bring the history of the Ireland’s 1916Easter Rising to life, providing a unique opportunity for people everywhere to immerse themselves in the events of that week and ultimately to draw their own conclusions about what is arguably the most important event in Irish history. Twenty fictional but historically accurate characters will tell the story of the Rising through Twitter starting on April 24, 2016. The characters can be accessed at http://www.1916.today or on Twitter using #TweetTheRising or #1916today."
