Dad, here's a gift for the man who has everything and needs nothing: An hour with me! Ross Gay's book-length poem, "Be Holding" is an ode to Dr. J's famous move in the 1980 NBA finals, when he left the floor on one side of the basket, re-routed in mid air, and finished with a spectacular windmill reverse layup on the other side. I love the way the author dips and dives toward other memories and thoughts as he tracks this, "The Move" over the better part of 100 pages. Even though "it's only poetry," I thought you might enjoy a little time with my voice now and again. Happy Father's day to the best in the business...I love you! J
