In this episode, I talk to the great comedian, STEPHEN GRANT about his comedy career.
Based in Brighton, Grant is a comedian, writer, and radio presenter. At the time of recording the podcast, he ran and compered the Krater Comedy Club at the city’s Komedia venue from 1999 to 2022. The club won the Chortle Award for Best Comedy Club in the South for 2002 to 2006, 2008, and 2011 to 2014. In 2008 and 2011, Grant won the Chortle Award for Best Compere. After 23 years, the Komedia ended his contract to run weekend nights at the Krater Comedy Club so in January 2022, Grant launched and is regular compere for the Forge Comedy Club at the Ironworks Studios in Brighton’s North Laine. The opening night featured the headliner, Romesh Ranganathan.
I have seen Grant perform many times over the years including his solo show Second at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 as well as comparing The Krater Comedy Club in 2015, 2017, online in 2020 and Krater Comedy on the beach in 2021.
