Psalms 133: Unity and Harmony in Community

Psalms 133 is a short yet profound chapter in the Bible, attributed to King David. It emphasizes the beauty and blessings that come from living in unity with others. The Psalm reads as follows:

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
“It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;”
“As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore.”

This Psalms begins with a call to observe and recognize the goodness of unity among people. The comparison to precious ointment symbolizes the sanctity and joy that unity brings, just as the anointing of Aaron as high priest marked a holy moment. The dew on Mount Hermon, known for its lushness, represents the refreshing and life-giving effects of harmony.
