You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31 So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. 32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him. I. The Responses of Jesus The Response of the Soldiers Mark 15:24-25 And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. 25 And it was the third hour[d] when they crucified him. The Response of Pilate John 19-19-21 Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. We rebel in God’s presence, We repent in God’s presence III. Implications We have to see ourselves as we think of the crucifixion The death of Jesus reminds us that it is just that bad, and we are more responsible than they are. The Crucifixion of Jesus both hardens and softens the heart Even on the cross, Jesus was still king.
