These and other important questions in this episode with an education correspondent for NPR and the author of The Art of Screen Time: Digital Parenting without Fear Anya Kamenetz.

With social distancing limiting our ability to connect and physically interact, daily screen time has increased in our lives.

And even before the COVID-19 global pandemic, there were concerns about what screen time is doing to our health. But screens are not inherently bad. And I’m definitely not against them.

My advice to you is:

Use common sense and your own best judgment, know your child, your family, your needs.
Prioritize human connections and emotions.
Spend time together without screens daily.
Protect sleep.
Be sure kids have other activities besides screens during the day. It's all about balance.
Be a good role model yourself.
