This week our audiobook is Twisted Faith, a Christian YA novel and the second book in The Faith series featuring the character of Pastor David Owens. It’s written by Victoria Schwimley with Jessica Morrison and read by Kelly Mack and Connor Goff.
About the story:
Abby is a high school junior who finds herself pregnant. When her overbearing parents and their extremist church discover the pregnancy, there are devastating consequences. On the brink of suicide, and threatening to take her infant daughter with her, Abby reaches out to a stranger: struggling pastor David Owens. David, who had been grumbling about his new position and questioning why God had sent him to this small coastal town, now thinks he knows exactly why: he’s meant to save this girl’s life.
Amazon critic BookBelle says: Outstanding! I started this audiobook late in the evening and spoiled my next day by listening through the night. Twisted Faithimmediately held my attention, but more importantly truly brought tears to my eyes and made me feel emotions such as love and anger that just aren't typical responses to a book.
Boundless Book Reviews writes: I was hooked from the first chapter. I found it extremely hard to stop, and I recommend Twisted Faith to all readers. I should also let you know my 12-year-old listened with me and couldn’t wait to get back to it until we were finished. I listened to the audiobook and felt Kelly and Conner did an excellent job; even better than I could have done. Both voices were perfect for their characters. I loved this book and rated it with five stars.
GoodReads member Lynn Z describes her reaction to Twisted Faith: I received this audiobook free for an honest review. Am I ever glad I asked for it. There are no words to describe how wonderful this book is. I began to listen and couldn't stop. Twisted Faith is written very well and the authors did an excellent job with the story. I admit I had happy tears at the end. This is just such a feel-good book. Even with all the turmoil within the story. The narrators did an incredible job with the story. They brought the characters to life and made the story that much more enjoyable. What an awesome and life-enriching story. Such an eye opener when I know there are people out there just like Abby's family, not to mention the wonderful, forgiving, loving family in the church. Thanks so much for giving us listeners such an incredible story.
About the author:
Victoria Schwimley was born in Jamestown, New York, and now resides in Sacramento, California, with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She grew up reading, waiting anxiously for the next good book to be placed in her hands. It was only natural she would turn to writing as a hobby and later a career. She has been writing since childhood, always looking for the next story to tell. Writing is as natural a part of life for her as breathing. She loves getting to know her characters and bringing them to life. She is in as much anticipation about the ending of a story as she hopes her readers are.
