Today’s word is: beneficiary. The meaning of beneficiary is:  a person or a group who derives money or help from something or someone, a person officially entitled to receive the funds or benefit

The word beneficiary  means  someone who receives help either financially or otherwise. In official terms, beneficiary is the person who can legally receive the money or compensation.

For example, many developing countries are beneficiaries of funds from the World Bank for their infrastructure projects.

Example number 1 of 8:  The workers’ union negotiated an agreement with the management.  As a result of this agreement, the workers became beneficiaries of better salaries and improved working conditions.

Example number 2 of 8: The salaried employees have been the beneficiaries of the recent reduction in the income tax. This has given a boost to the savings as well as consumption in the economy.

Example number 3 of 8:  PM industries set up a fund to sponsor education for needy students. The only condition it laid was that the beneficiary must be studying in a government school in a rural area.

Example number 4 of 8: The billionaire industrialist passed away last week.  Amongst his three children, his only daughter has been the biggest beneficiary of his inheritance.

Example number 5 of 8:  Mohan wanted to send money through online banking to his family at the native place. But, he made a mistake while entering the details of the beneficiary account. Therefore, the money transfer failed to take place and he had to redo the whole process.

Example number 6 of 8:  The judge ordered the builder to pay compensation to the flat buyers on account of delayed possession. It was a great relief for the beneficiaries who were suffering financial losses till then.

Example number 7 of 8: The education board announced an incentive of ten grace marks for students who won medals at national sports events. Dominic was a beneficiary of this as he had done a silver medal in swimming and the incentive helped him secure admission to a renowned college.

Example number 8 of 8: The area is known for a cluster of jewelers who craft fabulous jewelry. There is a huge demand for it in the overseas market. The state government is planning to announce an incentive scheme for exports and the jewelers will be a direct beneficiary of the scheme.
