CCL 2018: Saturday Seminar on Communication Skills for Advocates

Motivational Interviewing (MI) offers a set of communication tools anyone can use in their advocacy work. These tools sidestep resistance, promote collaboration and lead others to make the case for change. MI has 30 years of research and over 1200 published studies supporting its effectiveness across a wide variety of situations.

This 3-hour workshop provides participants with an introduction and hands-on experience with MI’s unique approach to collaboration for change. During the last hour we will demonstrate how to use MI in lobby meetings, coaching conversations with volunteers, new member interviews, handling conflicts in a group, climate change conversations in social situations and related topics suggested by the audience.
