Scripture reveals that Yahweh does not change. The same Elohim who instructed Adam about what to eat in Eden established clear distinctions between clean and unclean animals long before Leviticus 11. Noah understood these categories when bringing animals onto the ark, demonstrating that dietary boundaries existed and were understood from the beginning.

The purpose of these distinctions goes deeper than physical health. Leviticus 11:44-45 connects our food choices to holiness, calling us to be set apart as Yahweh is holy. Peter echoes this command in 1 Peter 1:15-16, showing continuity between Torah and the apostolic writings.

When we examine contested passages carefully, the picture becomes clear. Peter's vision in Acts 10 concerned accepting Gentiles into the community, not declaring unclean animals fit for consumption. Peter himself explained this, stating that Yahweh showed him not to call any person common or unclean.

The controversial Mark 7 passage addresses ritual hand-washing traditions, not dietary law itself. Yeshua challenged man-made rules, not the Torah given through Moses.

Paul's writings about food consistently address meat offered to idols, not whether unclean animals became permissible for consumption.

Our first command from Yahweh concerned what we should and should not eat. These boundaries remain relevant for those who follow Yeshua and seek to walk in obedience to our Creator's unchanging Word.
