Kids & Family:Parenting
Episode 1 - Single Parenting - Staying Sane - Befriending our difficult feelings as a separated parent and understanding the wisdom of polyvagal theory.
Hi, I'm Carla-Jo, welcome to the home of my podcast- Single Parenting- Staying Sane!
Befriending our difficult feelings as a separated parent and understanding the wisdom of polyvagal theory.
In this episode I talk with Justin Sunseri and Mercedes Corona who are both licensed family and marriage therapists based in California. During our conversation we focus on separation and how this commonly effects our emotional and mental health as single parents. We talk about how to manage feelings of grief and guilt.
Justin and Mercedes share about the polyvagal theory what it is and how it can help us to understand why we are feeling what we are feeling and how this relates to the thoughts that arise as a result of our bodily states. Understanding this can begin to free us from our sense of suffering
We then go on to talk about how to manage when our children are with the other parent, coping with the difficult feelings that arise and this then turns into a more general conversation on understanding our feelings and emotions as single parents.
I hope you enjoy it.
