There will be no Brexit deal without a backstop – Harkin

Theresa May won’t get enough fudge in the whole wide world to sweeten the Brexit deal when it comes to getting any meaningful concessions on the Irish backstop. 

So says the Independent MEP Marian Harkin.

Mrs May will discuss the Brexit deal when she meets the EU 27 leaders in Brussels today.

Marian Harkin says the backstop is an essential part of the Withdrawal Agreement and that it cannot be watered down to make it more palatable to those who oppose it.
