Yes Ma’am

I find it fascinating that you can be in a place and when you ask them a question, irrespective of the person you're speaking with, they will say to you, “yes, sir,” “yes, ma'am.” This is such a wonderful way to communicate with one another. I find it so elegant and extremely polite. It is not something which they have to force themselves onto. They even have people who speak that way to their own parents. The father, for instance, will ask something of the daughter and she'll say, "Yes, sir," or the mother will ask something of the child and the child will respond, "Yes, ma'am."
