In this episode of “Something to Say” our host, Mazi Mutafa, interviews Joanna Harris of DC Public Libraries. They discuss Joanna’s family, how she got interested in literature, using libraries to give back to the community, and the “Know Your Power” workshops.

 

Patrick Washington speaks with the Youth Poet Laureate for Prince Georges County, Saniya Pearson and poet Amasa Maleski.

 

After that Mazi talks to poet and author Douglas Powell also known as Roscoe Burnems. They discuss the arts scene in Richmond, his book tour, encouraging wellness, a passage from his book, and they discuss youth activism and awareness of social issues.
