Mid-Session 16 September 19: Energy stocks jump as oil prices soar

The Australian sharemarket is slightly softer at lunch on Monday with the ASX 200 easing roughly 0.1%. The losses could be far more severe if it wasn’t for the rise in oil prices as a result of the weekend’s drone attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure. The local energy sector is by far the most improved sector while also being supported by materials and consumer staples, countering losses for most of the broader market.
