Right wing and far-right responses to the COVID-19 pandemic have included outright denial, racist conspiracy theories, extreme nationalism, and anti-democratic authoritarianism. In Australia, incidents of anti-Asian racism have increased and the police are already using the new conditions to crack down on marginal communities. In the long term, this crisis has the potential to build and strengthen the far-right unless there is organised left wing opposition. Roz and Liam are joined in discussion by Vashti Fox, a socialist activist and writer who is currently researching the history of anti-fascism in Australia since the 1970s.*
