Ireland has the unanimous backing of the EU member states when it comes to supporting the backstop agreement on Brexit.
That’s according to the Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly. He was speaking in the European Parliament in Strasbourg where he met the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier this morning.
The Ireland South MEP says Mr Barnier reiterated views expressed by the president of EU Council - Donald Tusk. In a tweet Mr Tusk said there would be no renegotiation of the Brexit deal including the backstop.
Here’s Sean Kelly.
