Education for Life

Education for Life offers a constructive and brilliant alternative to what has been called the disaster of modern education. The need for a change is universally recognized. The statistics of illiteracy, drug abuse, and violence speak for themselves. In his book by the same title, Swami Kriyananda traces the problems to an emphasis on technological competence at the expense of spiritual values, which alone can give higher meaning to life. The Education for Life system offers parents, educators, and concerned citizens everywhere techniques that are both compassionate and practical. Based on the pioneering work in India of Paramhansa Yogananda, in the early twentieth century, Education for Life offers a workable combination of idealism and practicality telling educators what to teach, when to teach it, how to teach it, and why. The Education for Life system has been tested and proven for over three decades at the many Living Wisdom schools located throughout the United States. Educators in both American and Europe have acclaimed the Living Wisdom schools as places where children are encouraged to grow toward full maturity as human beings, and where they learn not only facts, but also innovative principles for better living.

Ancient Scriptures for Modern Times

Paramhansa Yogananda offered fresh interpretations of ancient scriptures so we can apply into our daily lives. His teachings offer pratical, heartfelt, and scientific readings of parallel passages from the Bible and India’s ancient scripture, The Bhagavad Gita. We study the similarities between scriptures of two of the world’s greatest religions, bringing each vibrantly to life. This podcast sheds light on many of the famous passages from both texts, showing their practical relevance for the modern day and their potential to bring about lasting spiritual transformation. How do I find a true teacher? Through answers to such questions, ”Ancient Scriptures for Modern Times” will renew your faith and recharge your soul. It clarifies apparent differences in religious teachings to reveal timeless, unifying truths.

Music & Consciousness

Music is so much more than entertainment. It doesn’t merely reflect a state of consciousness: It also generates it. It’s generally understood that music can have a powerful effect on mood and energy. It’s less well known that positive and uplifting music can affect consciousness itself in positive and uplifting ways. Ananda Music singers and musicians are dedicated to raising awareness–not only of the general need for positive and uplifting music in our troubled world–but of a specific body of music that was composed for the exact purpose of raising energy, uplifting consciousness, and helping people. That music is Ananda Music.
