#13 - VISIONARY
It is not enough to share a vision with a colleague, an organization or even a community. You must have a vision for yourself. Vision is the tie that binds together the accomplishments of today with the possibilities of tomorrow. It can be the hub of your universe, the compass of your journey and the climax of your destiny, all at once.
A visionary is someone who lights the way and attracts others to walk with them into that light. It is someone who rejoices in hope and excitement the moment the sun arises and hits their face in the morning. People with vision walk taller and appear more resolved because they have an assurance of where they are headed and sense of purpose with every step. That sense empowers them with surges of strength and tenacity to accomplish things that others would deem impossible. In the Western world, people like Martin Luther King, Jr., Steve Jobs, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Oprah Winfrey, Eleanor Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, The Wright Brothers and so many more, were visionaries. They possessed an unstoppable mindset to pursue the dream in their hearts, against all odds. Despite failures, critics, lack of funding, credentials, shortcomings and hardships, they endured.
Whether you admire these individuals for who they are is of no consequence. No one can refute that they had and maintained a vision that materialized from nothing more than a decision to pursue their dreams. In fact, many of them started with no money and no influence, just the indomitable human spirit.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” – Prov. 29:18

As you determine what decisions to make in the road ahead, keep in mind that ultimately, we do not become what others say we are, we become who we say we are. If you are to reach the fullness of your potential, you will have to invest in YOU!
SUCCESS TIP #10: There are two kinds of people in the world:
1) Those interested and have good intentions.
2) Those committed, at any cost.
Are you INTERESTED or COMMITTED?
ASSIGNMENT #10: Number a paper from 1-13. Then take time to really look at the 13 Characteristics and honestly assess where you are in each by rating yourself on a scale of 1-10. A rating of one means you are really struggling in this area and ten means you have formed solid habits and live out that characteristic consistently. Develop a plan for growth for any areas you rated yourself five or less.
