The Art Of Tuning In Podcast with Maria Furlano
Religion & Spirituality:Spirituality
A few years ago I wrote a post called “New Years Resting” and how to look at this specific time of year a little differently than how my culture looks at this time of year. Personally, I always look forward to the New Year because it gives me a sense of renewal. I get inspired & love feeling new things evolving. I know that many people often want to begin brand new exercise routines, eating plans, detoxes & adventures. And this is the time with many of my clients that I actually say... Hold on for just a minute and let's take a different view.
We're in the time of winter. A time of restoring. Energetically winter is a time of rest, repair, and going within to restore our energy for the seasons to come. We have been told by advertising and business that because it’s the "New Year" we’re supposed to feel recharged, excited & full of energy and ready to start new things!!!
Chinese medicine and the practice of medical Qigong teaches us to live as much in harmony with nature and the seasons as is possible. Winter is the deepest time of the Yin energy in nature. Yin energy represents deeper, withdrawn energy. A time of going within. Practices that help us to connect with ourselves, rest and listen deeply are one of the best supportive activities you can do for yourself in the winter. In Chinese medicine it’s believed that each season supports the energy of the following season. For nature and all living things. There are things you can begin to do today...
