The Art of Shavasana is truly one to be perfected, and with practice true relaxation is bound to unfold. I have recently had some new high school students attend classes, and for most of them...this final relaxation is most difficult. Holding still while lying down, allowing the eyes to close, and simply relax. It can be challenging. Which is why I decided to offer a 15 minute guided relaxation in the hopes of offering the environment of letting go.
This guided relaxation can be a wonderful accompaniment for an asana practice, or can be utilized for a nap or even before bedtime.
So please, let loose, and enjoy. For all these various yoga positions are for the 'soul' purpose of finding a comfortable seated position for meditation.
