Tact and Tolerance - 19th Sunday After Trinity

If  you have to force it, it's not real.

If you have to force it you can't maintain it.

We all know what tact is and what being tolerant is. 

But while we know what it is, do we know how to manifest it without forcing?

What do Isaac Newton and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe have to do with it? 

Today's podcast is really the flipside of the talk from last week on "Christ as Truth," so we deal with many of the same concepts from a different point of view. These two talks form point and counterpoint about the nature of truth, ambiguity and anomaly.  

This talk does not deal with tact or tolerance directly but what is the state of being which underlies both tactfulness and tolerance: flexibility.

The Biblical texts have quite a lot to say about: the deeper technology of achieving flexibility, the attitude which produces it and the unmoving, indestructible cornerstone which makes such flexibility possible.

We return to the concept of Christ as a door with some comparisons to other religious figures.
