The Summer of 2005 is remembered by many Corrie fans for all the wrong reasons. Hot on the heels of dark, dramatic storylines such as Killer Katy and Mad Maya, the June to August period saw the show taking a much less headline-grabbing change of pace. While Charlie’s abuse of Shelley continued to simmer in the background, most of the other stories taking up screen time were there primarily to make us laugh. From Scooter and Sarah's koi carp caper to the boxing ring clash between Ashley and a rival butcher, not every story was a hit, but does the period deserve the derision it so often receives?
