Abiding in Christ and Finding True Peace: Are you resting in God’s righteousness or relying on your own?

 

Key Points:

🔹 Understanding Our Need for God – Paul reveals in Romans 3:1-20 that all people, regardless of background, fall short of God's glory. Our unrighteousness does not change God's faithfulness.

🔹 Faith vs. Works – The Jews were given the law and God’s presence, yet they failed to internalize it. Like holding medicine but never taking it, simply knowing about God is not enough—we must abide in Him.

🔹 God’s Judgment is for All – Sin is universal. It is not limited by nationality, status, or personal morality. Paul dismantles the idea that religious privilege exempts anyone from God’s judgment.

🔹 Our Righteousness Comes Through Christ – We cannot justify ourselves before God through works. True righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ, the only one worthy to stand before God on our behalf.

🔹 Shifting Our Perspective on God’s Goodness – Instead of questioning God’s goodness based on our struggles, we should see our pain as an opportunity to trust Him more. His grace uses even our failures for good.

 

Gospel Response:

✅ Depend Fully on Christ – We all stand before God, but only through faith in Jesus are we justified. Instead of clinging to our own righteousness, we must trust in His.

✅ Long for God’s Presence – Like the psalmist in Psalm 42, we should desire to stand before God, not in fear, but in confidence through Christ.

✅ Live in Humility and Faith – Instead of questioning God’s fairness, recognize that our righteousness depends on Him alone. Let go of control and trust in His sovereignty.

 

Are you trusting in your goodness, or are you resting in Christ’s? Let go of self-reliance and surrender to the righteousness that only comes through faith in Jesus.
