Sunday 6th March 2016: Words of - Humanity - Peter Godwin
In his final moments on the cross, Jesus makes three statements. He’s been on the cross for about six hours, when he says - “I’m thirsty”. This is something we say too. Not everybody could say, “today you’re going to be with me in paradise”. But anybody could say - “I’m thirsty”.
It points to the human side of who Jesus is.At the cross, we see Jesus for who he really is. He is truly human, absolutely one of us. His thirst points to his humanness. But Jesus is also “divine”. His response to his thirst and the actions of the Roman soldiers reveals him as God’s promised Saviour. Together they tell us just how much Jesus loves us.
Listen now as Pastor Peter unpacks his thoughts.
