Married to the Games' Episode194 informed us that the two characters that feature on the splash screen for Street Fighter 2 actually have names and backstories. Kevin fills us in on some of the...issues surrounding that introductory sequence.
WtFD - Ultima 6 (using Nuvie, aiming for SteamLink support), Kim Kardashian: Hollywood

Kim Kardashian thinks in-game purchases need to be handled differently: "Kim Kardashian thinks that when it comes to in-game purchases, there are appropriate and inappropriate ways of handling prompt screens.
In an interview with Recode's Kara Swisher, Kardashian said that she was a fan of the e-commerce method and used it within her own best-selling mobile game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, but has recently become disappointed with the way other games handled the system. Although she didn't specifically mention which games she had issues with, she used her daughter's experience with a game as an example.
'We were on a long car ride, and we were so annoyed that everything kept popping up and popping up that our daughter would cry every time the game wouldn't finish playing,' Kardashian said. 'She just wanted to seamlessly play.'
Kardashian added that they, referring to her and husband, Kanye West, were 'totally fine' with in-app and in-game purchases, if the prompt screen came up at the appropriate time and not every two seconds."
Homeworld - Remastered Collection: “The Homeworld Remastered Collection introduces Relic's acclaimed space strategy games Homeworld and Homeworld 2 to modern players and operating systems using the newest sophisticated graphics rendering technology, plus a fully remastered score and new, high fidelity voice recordings by the original actors. As a free bonus, this collection also includes original, non-remastered versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 Classic, preserving the purest form of the original releases with compatibility for modern operating systems.”
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine: “The second and final epic expansion to The Witcher 3, is now available on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements. This time, Geralt of Rivia visits Toussaint, a never-before seen region almost as big as No Man's Land, to face a night terror lurking in the shadows of the kingdom.” (Speaking of which...the version 1.2 update for The Witcher 3 was released at about the same time as Blood and Wine. At 2.6 GB, it was a massive update.)
The Solus Project: “A single player exploration driven adventure with survival elements, set on a mysterious and seemingly uninhabited alien planet. Survive through exploration, and unlock the mysteries of Gliese-6143-C.”
Copper Dreams: “A CRPG featuring cyber-espionage on the edge of the galaxy. Turn based combat with timed actions, stealth and chainsaw arms.”
No Man’s Sky Director Receives Death Threats Over August Delay: “With the recent news of No Man’s Sky now delayed to August, Hello Games director Sean Murray is reported to have received death threats over the titles delay.”
ELEX "Mood" Video: “Nordic Games and Piranha Bytes [released] a new environmental footage-laden "mood" trailer for their forthcoming action RPG ELEX today, giving us yet another glimpse into what the sci-fi/fantasy title will bring to the table.”

Neverwinter will debut on PS4 later this summer: “The Cryptic Studios-developed role-playing adventure based on the Dungeons & Dragons universe is arriving on the console with all of the content from the original game as well as its nine expansions to play through as one of eight varied classes.”
Valve has sold over 500,000 Steam Controllers: “If you've been wondering how many people bought into Valve's bid to redefine the PC gamepad, you've got an answer: about half a million. That's the number Valve gave today in the Steam Controller's June Update post. That's a lot of controllers, but nowhere near enough to overthrow the dual-stick status quo.”
Transmission: When Classic Sci-Fi And Video Games Collide: “Nathaniel West is a veteran concept artist who served as lead concept artist on Interstellar, and has also worked on Godzilla, Inception and Iron Man 2. His latest project, though, is as creator of the upcoming video game Transmission. Taking cues from classic sci-fi design like 2001 and Alien, and some of his favourite games of all time (Ico, Resident Evil, Secret of Monkey Island, The Dig, and Zelda), he’s come up with an adventure about a man who wakes up on an alien planet with no idea of how he got there.”
Planescape: Torment Lead Writer Chris Avellone is Working on Prey: “Industry veteran Chris Avellone, who left Obsidian last year to pursue freelancing, is working on the title in some writing capacity, as announced by the man himself on Twitter. Apparently it was the folks at Arkane Studios that reached to Avellone first too, rather than the other way around, but the man isn't involved in a lead position.”
Skyrim’s remastered Special Edition is free if you own the game and all of its DLC on PC: “If you own Skyrim and all of its DLC (or Skyrim’s Legendary Edition) on Steam, you’ll get upgraded to the Skyrim Special Edition for free when it releases on October 28.”
Dishonored 2 gameplay teaser reveals new powers, casual time-travel: “Bethesda gave us a real look at how Dishonored 2 will play. With a now grown-up Emily Kaldwin, players will get a chance to play as both her and the last game's protagonist, Corvo. Aside from gameplay changes, it will also offer different shades of the story depending on who you play with. But that's just the start.” (Also worth a look: Dishonored 2’s Playtesters are Combining Powers in Ways the Developers Didn’t Expect.)
EA Announces EA Originals: “EA Originals will essentially give indie titles a spotlight that they would not normally get. EA will publish the games, as well as give them advertising and marketing opportunities that will get the word out on their game.”
In Mass Effect: Andromeda You ARE the Alien: “The most profound point made during EA's press conference in regards to the Mass Effect: Andromeda story is that you will be the alien. This is made even more intriguing since we already know that Andromeda's story is supposed to be separate from previous games, and there's still not a lot that has been revealed as to why humans have sought out other planets to populate. At the end of Mass Effect 3, many questions were left unanswered. The extended cut provided some closure but the ultimate ending with a postcard like image of a grandparent speaking to a child about how 'The Shepard' saved everyone doesn't quite explain why humans would be traveling deep into uncharted territory.” (Also worth a look: BioWare Wants Mass Effect Andromeda To Recapture The First Game's Wonder.)
