Goals Are Dangerous Without A Theme: Ep. 229
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.
--George Bernard Shaw
We love to accomplish our goals, but the price of those goals can be delayed happiness, stunting our feelings of success, and negative self-talk. After being introduced to the concept of life themes, we explore how defining a theme can be the perfect compliment to a goal-centric life. By keeping consistent with a theme, and focusing on daily practices, the by-product will be seeing many of our goals come to fruition, and a deeper connection with our purpose.
A goal of increasing business revenue by 50% in 2017 would align with a theme of "Extreme Business Excellence". Your daily practices would include actions that support your theme such as superb customer service, building an email list, producing a newsletter, and maybe even more efficient systems to support your clients, Those daily practices are all things that are crucial to improving and growing your business. How can you not reach that goal?
BUSINESS DILEMMA & COFFEE TALK:
We discuss a local coffee shop and their practice of posting strict rules for proper customer etiquette. Is this a smart business practice, or are they risking the alienation of customers?
Children living in an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina claim to have been approached by clowns and offered money to go into the woods with them. Luckily, none of the children need money that badly, and were smart enough to run away. So far, police have not been able to find any evidence to support the sightings, so is this a mass hysteria, soon to be an urban legend?
Possible more frightening is the fact that Gonorrhea is very close to being untreatable, according to the World Health Organization. Once, easily treated by a course of antibiotics, we are quickly running out of antibiotics that the disease will respond to. Why isn't this a bigger story?
