#246: Gardening in a Wide Variety of Climates with Garden Expert Claire Splan
Today, Mike chats with gardening expert and author Claire Splan on how you you can push your gardening limits regardless of which growing zone you are in.
Claire shares her experiences as a Northern Californian gardener, and how her research for her book, California Month-by-Month Gardening, lead her to experiment with many varieties of fruits and vegetables, most notably the garden's king, the tomato.
Note: We had to edit out some portions at the beginning of the interview because they came across with too much static.
Claire is an Alameda native with a deep appreciation for the joys of gardening in sandy soil and a Mediterranean climate. This is where she shares her gardening successes and frustrations (of which there are many), as well as news of gardening events and developments in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. She loves writing and talking about gardening and am is a member of the Garden Writers Association, but also enjoys writing fiction and other types of nonfiction.
Claire is the author of the award-winning California Month-by-Month Gardening and California Fruit and Vegetable Gardening. Whether speaking at large garden shows or to small garden clubs, Claire engages each and every audience with enthusiasm and solid information.
