No “going back” on border – McGuinness on Brexit
MEPs in Strasbourg have backed a resolution that calls on EU leaders to move on to the second phase of Brexit negotiations. In a vote today in the European Parliament MEPs made it clear that the application process for UK settled status should be free of charge and rights should be extended to future partners of EU and UK citizens. They also added an amendment accusing the UK Brexit secretary David Davis of trying to undermine good faith between negotiation teams. The Fine Gael MEP Mairead Mc Guinness says there can be no return to the borders of the past on the Island of Ireland.
