#330: Grow Citrus - Tips to Grow Citrus Fruits at Home (Darren Sheriff)
In this episode of the Vegetable Gardening show, Mike chats with Darren Sheriff about how to grow citrus at home. Darren is an expert when it comes to growing citrus, with at one time he grew more than 100 citrus plants in his backyard garden, all in containers.
Darren is going to tell us the basics of growing citrus in a home garden as well as growing citrus in containers, he's going to tell us how to protect citrus plants from colder temperatures and a few ideas to keep the warmth around them.
From there Darren, is going to tell us how to properly prune a citrus tree, the size of the container you need to grow citrus, and of course soil and fertilization of your citrus plants.

My name is Darren Sheriff. I am a SCNLA Certified Professional Nurseryman, A Charleston County Master Gardener and I work for Terra Bella Garden Center.
As a member of the Coastal Carolina Camellia Society as well as the founder of the Lowcountry Fruit Growers Society, I am currently president of both groups. I am known as "The Citrus Guy" here in the Lowcountry as an expert in the cultivation of Citrus and currently have 55+ different varieties in my yard, mostly in containers, but some in the ground as well.
I am an Exotic Tropical Fruit buff, growing things many people have never heard of, and am well versed in all other kinds of fruit as well. I aced the MG course with a 100% on the final exam as well as a correspondence course on Landscaping and Gardening I started this blog as a means to extend the MG Mission of education.
I enjoy teaching and this blog will be educational, sometimes funny, and hopefully always inspirational.
