Ep 27 - Dave talks about how the language we use can have a massive impact on how we feel.
We use language every day, and ever word we use is loaded with emotions and meanings. Even something as simple as answering "not bad" when someone asks how we are is loaded with the presumption that "bad" is the norm and by some degree of chance today we aren't feeling bad.
I like to try saying things like "I'm great" or "fantastic, thank you" and see what sort of response I get. Often I get looks of confusion (or at best surprise), people have become accustomed so much to hearing us play things down, that when we don't we are considered an anomaly.
This goes even further when we look at the way we talk to ourselves. We often say things to ourself that if someone else said them we would not be happy at all. What is worse is that (especially where negativity is concerned) we take our own voices VERY seriously. So we add a lot of weight to this internal dialogue, which quite often is trying to derail our happiness.
The point of this podcast is to say be mindful of the languge you use. Try a few different things out and see how the words you say link with what you feel.
