Cobra Women Win Seventh Straight
The #16 Parkland Women wasted little time Wednesday night showing Lewis and Clark that they were ready to play as they raced out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 71-46 victory. The win, the Cobras 7th straight, improved the team to (20-5 and 6-1) while Lewis and Clark dropped to (16-6 4-3).
The Cobras shot a blistering 62% in the opening quarter while the Trailblazers were ice cold making just 2-17 from the field. Madelyn Brouwer and Crystal Mathis each had 6 points in the first 10 minutes. PC would go cold in the second quarter making just 3 of 14 but still took a 33-20 lead into intermission. The Cobras came out clicking on all cylinders after half, as they quickly pushed the lead to 40-20 and led 54-31 after three periods. Both teams substituted freely over the final 10 minutes as PC rode out the victory.
Brouwer had a huge game for PC scoring 22 points while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Mathis added 16 points and 5 boards while Ryan Dooley had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. The Cobras shot 42% for the game compared to just 23% for Lewis and Clark.
Parkland will return to action on Hall of Fame Day this Saturday as they host John Wood (12-15 4-3) starting at 1:00.
