The Solo Parent Society offers community and support to the
14 million parents raising children alone
I interview Former Christian Music Exec and Solo Parent Society Founder Robert Beeson
More than one third of U.S. households are single-parent families. Robert Beeson, a former Christian music industry executive, never expected to be one of them, but found himself a single parent to his three girls, ages 9, 7 and 4, when his wife left. He raised them on his own for eight years, and while he grew spiritually in ways he never imagined possible, his eyes were also opened to the sheer volume and tremendous needs of the single parenting community.
Out of a desire to assist the 14 million parents raising children on their own, Beeson founded the Solo Parent Society in 2016 to create a space to hear from others who have been, or are still on, the same solo journey he walked. The Solo Parent Society offers single parents a place to find community and support through resources (podcast, video, life groups, and more) that address the many various needs and aspects of single parenting.
This April, Focus on the Family and Tyndale releases Beeson’s newest resource, his book Going Solo: Hope and Healing for the Single Mom or Dad (April 2018), in which he shares his solo parenting journey, along with hope and encouragement for parents who find themselves walking a similar road. Beeson shares how he found his “solo” relationship with his heavenly Father through his “solo” parenting season, and helps readers learn habits and healing principles they can immediately apply during this difficult season of life.
