Backbone Radio with Matt Dunn - June 3, 2018 - HR 2
Rep. Trey Gowdy unmasks his inner Deep State self. Defends the FBI's SpyGate activities. But why? We hypothesize that the Republican Party Establishment does not want to uncover the real truth about SpyGate, as we suspect both political parties -- a.k.a. The Beltway Uniparty -- have their fingerprints all over the spying operation run against Candidate Trump. Any ultimate accountability herein will thus have a broad and alarming distribution. We listen to Devin Nunes' morning interview with Maria Bartiromo, in which he responds to the Gowdy sellout. We parse the language to isolate the apparent kernel of disagreement between Nunes & Gowdy. On the one hand, Gowdy blindly trusts DOJ's assertion that the IC was spying on the bad guy Russians, and was not at all spying on Trump. On the other hand, Nunes contends DOJ actually was spying on the Trump Campaign, and not really upon the Russians. Critical discrepancies to be sorted out soon enough, as another IG Horowitz report waits in the wings. Meanwhile, we consider the $17 Million budget for Mueller so far, a relevant quote from Orwell, and a tantalizing text message from the FBI's Peter Strzok: "The White House is running this." Running what exactly? Backbone Host offers a clean retrospective on the fundamentals of SpyGate. (Note: A little in-studio power outage shortened this hour's live broadcast by about 10 minutes.)
