Opening Monologues. The Californication of Colorado. Solid election results nationally, as the Trump GOP was able to overcome history to thwart a Blue Wave. Impressive gains in the U.S. Senate. But tough times indeed for Republicans in Blue State Colorado. We offer our Preliminary GOP Autopsy for Colorado 2018. Mild-mannered, Bush-like campaigns in the Trump Era. It must be said: The low energy, low purpose, low connection CO GOP simply could not have done worse, even if they tried. But will they learn the right lessons from this debacle? We criticize state leaders for continually distancing themselves from President Trump and the motivating MAGA agenda. Nationally, we observe the Republicans who did well tended to seek the "warm embrace" from Trump. Rough justice arrives for the defeated Rep. Mike Coffman, who fell short in his effort to represent a district reflective of the kind of America he has helped create. Coffman earned a dismissive comment from Trump: "Too bad Mike!" We bestow Darwin Awards upon sundry Never Trumpers, whose wayward political instincts have helped remove them from the political gene pool. Meanwhile, Democrats attempt to steal elections in Florida, Georgia and Arizona. As philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer once said, gotta keep on fighting. Eternal Vigilance.
