Interview with Isobel Mackenzie, the Seniors Advocate of BC
In our interview with Isobel Mackenzie, we discuss what the Office of the Seniors Advocate does, how it formed and some of the systemic issues it is researching and reporting to the BC government.
Our conversation ranged over topics that are important to seniors including disproportionate subsidies for seniors on GIS vs those who are not, the overuse of assisted living resources as a result, senior loneliness and how government can play to help ameliorate it, and transportation as one of the top challenges for seniors' independence.
The Office of the Seniors Advocate website is https://www.seniorsadvocatebc.ca. There you will find the reports and research we allude to. You can also call the office with challenges you are personally facing at 1-877-952-3181.
Tune in for our lively conversation and be sure to give us some feedback about what is most important to you!
