Coronavirus: CEO gives up salary and donates $5 million to support employees through the pandemic
The CEO of a US restaurant chain has donated his salary plus an additional $5 million to support his employees through the coronavirus pandemic.
64-year-old Kent Taylor founded the popular steak house Texas Roadhouse, based in Louisville, Kentucky.
He’s given away his annual income and bonus, totalling more than $800,000 to an emergency fund called "Andy's Outreach", which he set up 18 years ago to help employees cover rent, mortgage payments and funeral expenses.
His donations have enabled him to keep all his staff with full pay across his 600 restaurants, despite the business taking a huge hit earlier this year because of lockdown measures.
