Teenager killed in another shooting in Seattle’s occupied protest zone
A teenager has died and another is in a critical condition after a shooting in Seattle’s so-called "occupied" protest zone. It’s the second deadly shooting in the area that local officials have vowed to change after business complaints and criticism from Donald Trump.
A 16-year-old was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Centre, and a 14-year-old boy has critical gunshot injuries. Police have described the violence as "dangerous and unacceptable", and comes just a week after another incident in the zone left one person dead – a 19-year-old man, and another, aged 33, wounded.
Demonstrators have occupied several blocks around Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct and a park for around two weeks after police abandoned the facility following standoffs and clashes with protesters calling for racial justice and an end to police brutality.
