Republicans urge action following briefing on Russian bounties allegation
Eight Republican members of US congress have attended a White House briefing about allegations that Russia secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing American troops in Afghanistan - intelligence the White House insists the president himself has not been fully briefed on.
Members of both US parties called for more information and consequences for Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, with eight Democrats due to be briefed on the matter on Tuesday.
Senators reviewed classified documents related to the allegations on Monday evening.
