Lawyer defends brandishing gun at Black Lives Matter protesters outside Missouri mansion
The homeowner who pointed an assault rifle at Black Lives Matter protesters outside his Missouri mansion has defended his actions, saying he was confronted by an "angry mob". Mark McCloskey claims demonstrators made threats as they headed towards the home of St Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson on Sunday – chanting for her to resign.
Footage of him and his wife Patricia, who are both personal injury lawyers, brandishing guns from the steps of their property went viral. Speaking to a CBS affiliated TV station, Mr McCloskey said they generally believe the Black Lives Matter movement is important, but claimed the confrontation was "as bad as it could get".
It’s understood the couple are not facing charges and that police are investigating the incident as a case of trespassing and assault by intimidation against them.
