'Unprecedented' increase among Hong Kong jobseekers for work abroad, study suggests
Searches for working abroad by jobseekers in Hong Kong have increased to unprecedented levels in recent months, with the UK the most popular destination, new research suggests.
Daily searches for international jobs started to rise above normal levels in May when the national security law was being drafted, and soared in July after the legislation was passed, said jobs site Indeed.
Average daily searches for UK jobs increased by 348% from June to July after the UK Government eased visa restrictions allowing nearly three million Hong Kong citizens the right to live and work in the UK.
The rise meant the UK overtook the United States, Canada and China to become the most popular destination for Hong Kong jobseekers.
