While little is known about the author or the audience of the book of Hebrews, we do know that their faith was 'under fire'. The temptation for this first audience was to retreat to a form of quasi-Christian-Judaism that was more familiar and more acceptable to those they lived among. In the earlier chapters, the author shows the futility of faith without Jesus. In chapter 11 - the focus of this series - the author draws from the 'heroes' of the Hebrew Scriptures to show how their faith points to Jesus who is ultimately the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.
This short practical summer series will explore the definition of faith, the way it is lived out practically, staying the course, faith under fire and how to share it with others.
