Johnstown Castle. Dylan Walsh explores his “Happy Place”
The majestic Johnstown Castle with its acres of manicured green lawns, tall trees and lakes, a few kilometres south east of Wexford town, is attracting increasing numbers of visitors from all over Ireland and overseas.
Here are lakes, streams, statues, walkways, a walled garden and roaming the grounds are Johnstown’s famous peacocks.
In the same grounds are medieval Rathlannon Castle, which houses the Irish Agricultural Museum and the Walsh laboratory.
Dylan Walsh, pharmacist and travel blogger, whose famous grand uncle Dr Tom Walsh, an agricultural scientist, was boss of Johnstown Castle, takes us on a stroll to explore the castle’s amazing history and its fascinating features. This is Dylan’s “Happy Place”.
