I, JD, personally agree with the concept macross was which is why I recommended it. I see where they were coming from though. Like I mentioned on the cast, it was that first popular mech coming out of that super robot stuff. As for robotech... That's Americanized western Frankenstein macross with 2 shows thrown into it :p Thanks for the take :) keep them coming.

@trevrockone : Really weird to hear the other two guys' opinions on Macross. I wouldn't say Macross is confused about what wanted to be at all. I think all the elements work perfectly together. (Also, Macross kicked off the transforming mech trend) Macross was the first major show to actually be made by the post Gundam otaku generation, and because of that I feel that there's this self-awareness and fresh sense of fun to it. I'd compare the tone of Macross to something like Robocop, where it just somehow manages to excel on all these different levels and keep them all in balance.
