I think that it would make sense for this to be some kind of descended form of Ganondorf. After skyward then Link and Zelda’s descendants were cursed to fight a form of evil cursed by Demise’s rage which gives background to all of the Zelda/Link VS. Ganondorf games. If Breath of the Wild stays true to this then it would make sense for a new Ganondorf to fight the “new” Link and Zelda. This being said I think it would be really cool if it was somehow the hero from 10,000 years ago that turned out to be a cursed Ganondorf like you guys pointed out because it would still be staying true to the lore from Skyward Sword but also providing an entirely new light on Ganondorf.
