Her thinking ability is disrupted so she behaves like in a disruptive manner. Feeling 'rejected' by room-mates could have agitated her. She was off her meds so the room-mates might have had legit reasons to complain.
This young woman is likely off her meds and is possibly experiencing some psychosis from a flair up of her bi-polar illness. I think the finger movements you speak of are a reaction to a visual hallucination. The button pushing and sudden change of mood could be a response that makes sense to her because she's has paranoid delusions.
Still to many unanswered questions.
I know her case is one of my faves.
