I don't think I saw the movie that you're discussing. The "real" people you included seemed absolutely like targets. If that's your idea of kindness, I hope we never cross paths.

I am loving listening to these podcasts and being able to get a peek into film makers minds. this one was particularly great because of how detailed the explanations were please keep doing this!!!

Spike's comment that Hattie was not able to attend the Oscars ceremony is wrong. There's no doubt she worked in a racist Hollywood, but misrepresenting the facts helps no one.

The choice of Laurie Metcalf for the mom was what made me watch the movie. Even in just seeing the trailer I could feel Metcalf's performance.

Loved the movie. When it was over not one person in the filled theater moved. No one wanted to leave.
