Rip Aaron, we love you
Why are you guys not talking about the elephant in the room? You are literally describing a cult like fanaticism of Stalin and saying is okay because communisim or some bullshit. A little more nuance would be appreciated, ffs.
great stuff
interesting analysis on the ukraine-russia situation, don’t think this guy knows what he’s talking about with china though lmao
This was an incredible episode.
lack of knowledge. A little knowledge is dangerous and on this issue you're definitely in possession of little knowledge.
Ruairí a fascist? Really? On the one hand Ruairí was solid on Éire Nua which empowers every minority. Contrast that with Adams's and J118's resolute commitment to shoehorn the 6 Counties into a 32 County state. On the one hand the Provos implement Tory policy in the 6 Counties and provide a flimsy opposition to Fianna Fail and Fine Gael in Leinster House, on the other Sinn Féin Poblachtach are firmly committed to Saol Nua. Rest of the episode was moderate but on Ruairí and RSF you showed up your
Not sure how you can credibly claim Ruairí Ó Brádaigh was never right. EVERYTHING he said at the Árd Fheis in 1986 has been proven 110% correct and far more besides. A united Ireland coming out of Stormont? Socialism coming out of Leinster House? Ruairí was spot on with the impossibility of both those scenarios. Loyalism remaining a rabid force? Right again. Or are you glossing over what happened to Noah Donahoe and the threats of a replay of Carson's Orange Terror over the protocol.
Haha give it a rest dickhead! You're a Glasgow Rangers supporter. It's literally impossible to support Rangers and not be a knuckledragging racist bigot. Even more so when it's apparent you also support Lazio. Two clubs with pretty much 100% fash support! How are you getting on with being anti-antifa down at Ibrox these days? Not that Celtic fans are much better. Only people who want to bathe in bigotry follow pub league Scottish football. It's wank. Have a day off clown.
Fanon died in 1961 and Rodney would have been 19 then. Rodney and Fanon never met.
1 sided bullshit
Excellent episode, but please speak slower, the player slowed down some of what he was saying but even at half speed it was unintelligible, but great ep overall. Cheers
The Greek "Liberalisation" sounds quite a lot like Sisi's Egypt. Seems like there's a long history of this style of "democratisation" is a classic signiture of CIA/State Dept. backed Governments worldwide
Look out! I'm a Communist and I roam around in gangs of other Communists killing Capitalists for shits and giggles 😂😂😂
Lol, Communist Propagandist= Best Job Ever
Great intro to Marxism-Leninism. This was one of the shows that led me to becoming a Marxist-Leninist after a thorough study of Socialist history, workers movements, Orthodox Marxism and Lenin.
This episode is incredible. I knew most my adult life that much of what we had been told in school, read in history books, told in the news, was bullshit. But the extent to the propagandistic nature of how we in the West are taught about the Soviet Union and Stalin in particular was beyond shocking to me. I had to go off on my own after listening to this episode and do my own research to the best of my abilities. I read everything I could get my hands on (granted that's limited by my working class condition in the US and the poor neighborhood in New Orleans that I live in) and was able to independently varify nearly everything the guys from Proles Of The Roundtable talk about. We've been lied to in the West in ways that are hard to even begin to put in perspective. And in the end, my discovery of the extent of these lies led to the icing on the cake of my radicalization. Nothing has done more to finally and formally shape my views and Marxist-Leninist ideology than Rev Left Radio and Proles Of The Roundtable, and this episode on Stalin and the USSR in particular. I can't thank you guys enough, and Brett specifically for the education I've received from your podcast. I started listening to Rev Left Radio and Proles an Anarcho-Syndicalist and finished a Marxist-Leninist Communist. And I couldn't be more proud to continue the fight in this lineage and take on the Bourgeoise with these time-tested tools shaped over generations of radicals. Thank you Comrades for all you do!
This is a fantastic narrative of the financial crises and more importantly, the backdrop of the era leading up to the crises; stagflation, the end of the Bretton Woods system, the recession induced by Paul Volker and the Fed with rapid increases of interest rates, the deregulation and tax cuts of the Neoliberal consensus beginning with Reagan, the Neoliberalization of the Democratic Party, and finally the subprime mortgage scam. And it was indeed a scam, a fraud a hustle, whatever you want to call it. I wish there werea way to disseminate this story and particularly this podcast to the wider public. If the progressive left wants to stand any chance of hijacking the Democratic Party dominating the narrative, they need to have this story to tell. Stories are so important to any major political movement. The Conservative Movement has always had it's stories about the takeover of the wider culture by the left, which in their telling has rammed political correctness down the throats of an unwilling America. As dishonest and incomplete as this story may be, it's been a powerful narrative that has captured the attention of the majority of the white working class. Then there's Trump's immigration narrative that he's melded in with the conservative movement's own narrative as if it were the missing piece of the conservative grievance puzzle. The Civil Rights movement had it's own powerful narrative that captured the hearts of Americans all over. The Labor Movement told it's own stories about the Railroad Barrons and the Guilded Age. These stories have always been at the tip of the spear of any successful movement. It captures the hearts and minds of people who might sit on the sidelines otherwise. It brings in new people by motivating them to get up and fight back. It changes minds of reasonable minded workers who might have been susceptible to alternative narratives. Either way, keep up the great work comrades! Keep building Solidarity anywhere and everywhere you can!
A fantastic episode! I tend to really enjoy your episodes with feminist topics and female leftists on in general. More please! The rise of figures like Jordan Peterson and incels has been scaring me shitless. I have a lot of working class, male peers from my town in the ex industrial north of England who feel a justified sense of loss since the unions were broken by Thatcher. The industries provided a sense of pride in masculinity, and Peterson esque rhetoric distorts the nostalgic power felt by unions and communities built around these industries, extracting the class element and attributing this sense of loss toward women who have become less feminine in their enfranchisement. The loss of working class identity and power is equated to the loss of power over women. These misogynistic narratives seem irresistible in the absence of class consciousness. Meanwhile I attend quite a posh, upper/upper middle class uni where for the first time in 30+ years, a pro life event was held by the suspiciously well funded Christian union. The counter protest was bigger and the attendees of the meeting were mostly men, but these men are from priveleged and powerful families. The momentum of pro life movements in the US is starting to be felt in the UK. It's scaring me! Keep up the good work & thanks comrades. X
Listened to this today. I'm a Brazilian and you mentioned a spin off in portuguese and I'm just YES PLEASE!!!!!
Just a quick little comment that's kinda relevant to this episode, but I actually swapped from ML to AnSyn a few months ago, after almost 20 years as an ML
The right wing here in Latin America can’t ever win free democratic elections after even the lightest people’s government or leftist government. That’s what happened in Brazil, they couldn’t win the elections so they took down the worker’s party’s government by a coup d’état.
One of the best episodes from the best podcast out there! love you all!
Thank you for this. I’m a Brazilian listener of your podcast. Thank you for The solidarity.
The part on Kulaks is strikingly resemblant (to a limited extent of course) to the situation in Venezuela!
Bless you Brett. Thank you for chasing your dreams and providing comrades all over the world with great content. This is a big, scary, but ultimately a revolutionary way to continue your life. And I wish you all the best while waging it. Big shoutout to Dave as well.
This was not critical. I was really looking forward to hear some actual criticisms a few things said for Peterson were ad hominem.
thank you for so many wonderful conversations and insights Breht✌️
